Red Level Resident Clark Honored at Major Football Clinic

RED LEVEL RESIDENT CLARK HONORED AT MAJOR FOOTBALL CLINIC
First woman in history of clinic to receive prestigious award

Red Level, Alabama business owner Debo Clark, Founder/Owner of Collegiate Sports Travel was honored on June 11, 2009 with the "Texas Coaching Legend" award at the Angelo Football Clinic in San Angelo, TX. The award was presented to her for her 20 years of dedication and contribution not only to the College Football industry but to the  San Angelo Football Clinic as well.

The Angelo Football Clinic is the best and largest of its kind in the country and hosts between 1500 and 2200 Texas High School and College Coaches yearly. Collegiate Sports Travel has been a major sponsor of the clinic for over 20 years. In attendance and/or speaking at the clinic this year were some major Professional and College football coaches including Wade Phillips, Head Coach - Dallas Cowboys, Nick Saban, Head Coach - U of Alabama, Mike Leach, Head Coach -Texas Tech, Gus Malzahn, Offensive Coordinator - Auburn University, Greg Davis, Offensive Coordinator - U of Texas, Bud Foster, Defensive Coordinator - Virginia Tech, as well as many others.

In the clinic's 36-year history, Clark was only the 12th person to receive the award as well as being the only woman and only "non-coach" to receive it and she's in good company. Past recipients include Bum Phillips, Former Head Coach - Houston Oilers/New Orleans Saints, Darrell Royal, former Head Coach - U of Texas, Gene Stallings, former Head Coach, U of Alabama, Hayden Fry, former Head Coach at U of Iowa and Jim Hess, former Head Coach at New Mexico State and a former Scout for the Dallas Cowboys.

Clark was unaware that she would be the 2009 Legends recipient. In January, Clark's daughter and Collegiate Sports Travel booking specialist Sky Clark-Cobb received a phone call from John Paul Young, former NFL coach and clinic director, letting her know that Clark would be receiving the award. Sky then reached out to Sarah Parmley, Clark's business partner to start putting together her bio for the award. Together, although hard, they were able to keep the award a secret from Clark for six months.

The award was presented Thursday afternoon immediately after speaker Mike Leach of Texas Tech left the stage. Clark was stunned. "I think this is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my career" said Clark. "To be in the company of football greats like Bum, Gene, Darrell and Jim is such an honor. I am truly humbled and ecstatic at the same time. I hope I can live up to the title of a Texas Coaching Legend"
